Amazon Robotics - Black-Friday Fleet Coordination
Software Engineering · September 2026
A ProoV case study · educational project, not employment
Built an end-to-end warehouse fleet coordination prototype for Black Friday surge conditions: modeled the FC as a grid world, implemented optimal A* pathfinding, and extended it to centralized cooperative A* with reservation tables that prevent both vertex and edge collisions. Validated a realistic operating policy with staggered charging and dispersed idle parking, then used simulation evidence to recommend a single-zone pilot to leadership.

What stood out6
- Implemented A* with Manhattan heuristic on a 4-connected grid and showed it beat Dijkstra in node expansions
- Built a reservation-table approach that blocks both vertex collisions and head-on edge swaps
- Chose a realistic coordination policy: priority-watchdog replanning, staggered charging, and dispersed perimeter idle parking
- Used simulator output to identify a concave throughput optimum at 35 robots and justified the trade-off
- Leakage-Free Feature Engineering
- Honest Model Evaluation
